Clinical Approach

I am eclectic in my approach to treatment in therapy, which means I have a big bag of tools to choose from! I use a mixture of Mindfulness Based therapies, Emotion Focused therapies and Thought Based therapies.

Mindfulness-based therapy involves cultivating present-moment awareness, often through meditation or breathing exercises, to enhance emotional regulation and reduce stress.

Emotion-focused therapy targets understanding, experiencing, and expressing emotions to foster psychological change and healing, emphasizing empathy and acceptance.

Thought-based therapies, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), address maladaptive thoughts and beliefs to modify behaviors and improve mental health by challenging and restructuring unhelpful thinking patterns.

Each approach offers distinct tools to navigate emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, supporting holistic well-being. In our first few sessions we will spend time exploring together the best treatment approach to support your needs and enhance your overall quality of life.

Who I work with:

Adult Individuals

Whether you are wanting to process trauma, anxiety, depression, or adjustment issues, individual therapy can be incredibly healing. One of the best things you can do for yourself is earn a Ph.D. in yourself! Individual therapy can help you process deep wounds or help direct you towards your best self.

Teens & Adolescents

“...the changes during adolescence are not something to just get through; they are qualities we actually need to hold on to in order to live a full and meaningful life in adulthood.”- Daniel J. Siegel.

Adolescence is one of the most important times for our brain’s development, to ensure a healthy, full adult life. In therapy, your teen/adolescent can learn healthy coping skills, self awareness, emotional regulation and craft a beautiful identity and life’s purpose.

Techniques & Interventions

  • EMDR

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy. It is an entire therapy model that has been proven to be highly effective for those who have experienced trauma.

EMDR therapy is founded on the basis that our emotional well-being is interwoven with our physical (somatic) state. During trauma our brain processes and stores memories incorrectly. This incorrect storage can lead to past memories feeling very present. Related or unrelated stimuli in the present can lead to clients reacting as they did at the time of trauma. The brain feels as if the past disturbing event is happening currently.

EMDR therapy corrects this mis-storage so that the painful memories associated with the trauma lose their charge. The client can react to stimuli in the present without the past interfering.

  • Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. Brainspotting operates as a tool to support the clinical healing process, locating points in the client’s visual field that help to access unprocessed trauma in the subcortical brain.

  • Individual Emotionally Focused Therapy

EFT focuses on an individual’s past relationships, reaching as far back as childhood to better understand mental and emotional struggles. EFT helps individuals explore dominant emotions and patterns in their lives to uncover underlying needs, suppressed feelings and motivations.

In addition to these techniques, Taylor also integrates Attachment Theory, Schema Therapy, IFS parts work, and Neurobiological Psychoeducation into her therapy sessions.
